I got your offie right here...

I know I know. I promised pictures of MYTH-APPROPRIATION: Urban Legends. They are coming. I promise. And they will be awesome.

In the meantime, let me tell you a little about Deb Sivigny and the award she got last night.

The sixth annual LOWT OFFSTAGE HONORS, or the "Offies" as we like to call them, is a pretty terrific evening. Every year members of the League of Washington Theaters come to honor some unsung heroes in our midst. Here's what League prez David Snyder has to say:

"We all know that the people offstage, everyone from resident staff to stage managers, are often the heart and soul of our organizations, giving their time, expertise and hard work in support of the artistic process without the spotlight of recognition," said LOWT President, David Snider. "Join us in honoring these unsung heroes of DC theatre, who have made and continue to make DC one of the most exciting, vital and productive theatre communities in the nation and the world."

So a lot of people gathered at Woolly Mammoth, ate some rocking hummus and 7 layer dip, drank Harp and Blue Moon beer and honored Deb and some folks from other theatres.

Her award looked like this:

We decided to honor Deb for a number of reasons. Besides designing nine shows for us and building a host of things on shows she didn't design (like the severed head in MASTER AND MARGARITA and the dead body in LORD OF THE FLIES), Deb has done quite a bit behind the scenes from casting to marketing to graphic design to intern coordination.

This past year Deb topped all her past offstage endeavors by planning our benefit, THE FIRE OF LOVE FETE. There wasn't much that she didn't do on this massive project. She found the space, she solicited food, drink and silent auction donations, she organized the volunteers and she made the gallery on R street look amazing in under an hour. Seriously. You've never seen an opereration quite like it.

In addition to Deb, other friends and company members won awards. Company Member Catherine Tripp won an award for her work at Woolly Mammoth. She tried to get without having her picture taken. She was foiled:

Another friend of Rorschach, Dre Moore, won an award for her offstage work at Adventure Theatre. Dre is designing props this summer for 1001 and LIVING DEAD IN DENMARK.

Here is a picture of Deb and Dre fighting with their awards like they are Rhinoceros:

So congratulations Deb, Catherine, Dre and all the other Offie winners!

What The Hell Are You Doing?

Annonymous Writes:

What are the Rorschach Company members doing on their time off right now?

Well Anonymous, if that is your real name, we really don't have any time off because we are quite busy preparing for our Exile at Georgetown this summer, but I sent out an email to the Company to see what other things folks are up to and these are the answers I have been able to gather.

From Tracy Lynn Olivera:

Hi! I just started rehearsals for THE HAPPY TIME at Signature, which opens in April as part of the Kander and Ebb festival and runs until the end of may. I miss you guys.

From Tim Getman:

hey bud...doing the miller reps at arena, playing happy in salesman and mike in view from the bridge. then doing in the heart of america at repstage. hope yer well

From Deb Sivigny:

I am opening Chasing George Washington at the Kennedy Center tomorrow night. Then I am working on Crumble with Catalyst Theater and HH nominated Shirley Serotsky. Then Neglect with Journeymen Theater, directed by RT alum Jessie Gallogly some other small things, like YPT's tour and the Source Festival too, but those are the major things...deb

And Cesar Guadamuz, Maggie Glauber, Patrick Bussink (who I just found a profile which I haven't run yet, sorry Foo) and Scott McCormick will be appearing in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot for Forum Theatre and Dance, we started rehearsals in last week and it will open in early April.

Giving Her . . .

Reminder abouot the reading of Tounge Tied and Blood Bound tonight at 8:00 pm at Casa. And also this is the final week for Rough Magic. That means there will be a mad rush for tickets so get your butt in gear.

Here is another profile of our design crew this time it is company member and oft times Costume Designer Deb Sivigny. Well she has put down her sewing and has taken up the glue gun to design props for Rough Magic. Enjoy!

PRODUCTION QUESTIONNAIRE OF DOOM:

1. What is your position working on Rough Magic?

Props designer/supportive wife to Producer

2. How did you get involved with Rorschach and this show?

I have been working with Rorschach since The Illusion and havebeen a company member for a season and a half I think. Sometimesthere are weird props--that's when I get called.

3. So, where are you from?

Durham, CT originally; DC now.

4. Tell us about your day job(s):

I manage the costume shop at Catholic University. I used to be a Hotel Spy--but that story's for another day.

Good Lord...uuhhh: Catalyst Theater, Theater Alliance, Forum Theatre/Dance, Journeymen Theater, WSC, Theatre J, Woolly Mammoth, Studio Theatre 2nd Stage, Olney (National Players and Mainstage), Everyman, Baltimore Shakespeare Festival, and Colorado Shakespeare Festival.

6. What aspect of this show are you most excited about?

I love how over-the-top everything is. And the high comedy--which we don't get to do much.

7. If you could be an illegal substance and/or activity, what would you be and why?

Are my students reading this?

8. If you could be a comic book character or a superhero/villain, whowould you be and why?

I would be a Super Penguin--where I could shoot ice out of my flippers and swim like mach 10. [and in life, I currently can't doeither of those things.]
